MARAVILHOSA RAISES AWARENESS TO THE ACCESSIBILITY AND INCLUSION OF PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES AT ITS 2ND BRAINSTORMING EVENT
Maravilhosa organized its second Brainstorming event, “I am passionate and creative!”, on Tuesday the 3rd of December 2019 at Poseidonia Beach Hotel in Limassol, followed by a networking Cocktail Reception.
The 3rd of December marks the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, and was the subject of Muriel Matta’s speech and subsequent keynote speeches.
The first address was delivered by Capt. Eberhard Koch, Chairman, CEO and Partner, Oesterreichischer Lloyd Shipping Group and President of Cyprus Marine Club, which was the Event’s Major Supporter and is the Brainstorming Community’s major supporter.
In her welcome speech, Maravilhosa’s Founder and Owner, Muriel Matta, raised awareness to the accessibility and inclusion of people with disabilities, and welcomed the persons with disabilities present in the audience.
The keynote speeches were delivered by representatives from the Association of Parents and Friends of Children with Disabilities in Limassol. The President of the Association, Iacovos Valanidis, emphasized on the skills that children acquire through his Association and the steps he takes to include them in the society. Currently, eleven people from his Association are employed, and he aims to help employ many more.
The Association’s coach, Theoni Michael, communicated information on the Government programmes for the recruitment of people with disabilities.
Efthymia Michael, a young member of the Association, shared her enthusiasm and happiness to belong to VTT Vasiliko Ltd, where she has been recently employed as Administrator.
Muriel Matta informed the audience that one of the initiatives launched in May, namely the ‘Blue Tank’, has been implemented and registered as an International think tank, and will be active at the end of the first quarter of 2020.
Afterwards, the Brainstorming Community's teams shared each a short presentation of their research, surveys, statistics, polls and action plans, raising awareness to crucial topics.
The ‘Mentoring and professional development’ Initiative 1, sponsored by Pivotal Step Ltd, announced their newly formed mentoring platform, Pivotal Circle, which aims at connecting young people with experienced mentors from various industries.
Muriel Matta announced the launch of a new initiative, 'Cyprus and the yachting industry' sponsored by Multimarine Services Ltd.
More information related to the initiatives and their subsequent actions will be shared by Maravilhosa in due time.
All the initiatives’ team members come from different industries and backgrounds; their brainstorming and team building was facilitated by Muriel Matta for the past few months.
