WHY COMFORT IS KEEPING YOU FROM YOUR POTENTIAL

Why comfort is keeping you from your potential

There is a question you might be asking yourself. Or rather, I hope you are.
“What would I like to learn? What can I do more, or contribute in?”

Like many people looking for something - a purpose, a promotion, new experiences - you realize you are not a finite person.
You can still do more, be more, and for that, you need to dare more.

Breaking free from ties we create, real ones or crafted in our minds, is a major challenge.
We are defined by borders; we grow up within borders, and we learn to live in specific borders - the language we know, the behaviors we know, the community we know.
However, a community and an organization can only develop when its members keep developing themselves and acquiring a variety of experiences and skills, beyond its walls.

Most of us have trained ourselves not to question our own habits and choices, even when we know that some of these may be limiting, or unhealthy.

For example, we often seek something within our current knowledge.
Because it is easier to do so. The first thing that comes to our mind is to use our existing capabilities, as opposed to keep acquiring new ones.

What if you learned a new language?
What if you acquired a different skill?
What if you changed your routine?
Wouldn’t this be (yes, I know, very challenging at first) something worth trying and growing from?

We worry about the impediments, instead of visualizing the potential.
These are the ties we wrap ourselves in - perceived impediments and comfort.

We struggle with change because a known delimitation is comfortable and comforting.
When we accept that this is where we are, this is what we have, and this is how we should live (or work, or think), we don’t peak outside those predefined boundaries.
Unless someone - or circumstances - forces us to.

The mind will think and decide in the same way it has been exercised to do.
When you push the limits of your thinking, you allow the mind to widen the scope.

You get to decide whether you want comfort or growth.
You decide if you want to keep subscribing to the same routine and comfortable expectations.
Or whether you believe you can do and be more. Then cancel that subscription and open the door to the outside worldview.
