Shipping: an industry of Passion, Knowledge and Experience - Part Two

Maravilhosa organized a first panel discussion on the 10th of May 2016, in order to share real-life Shipping stories and provide industry beginners with a learning session, as well as to engage in a dialogue between Shipping executives and young aspiring professionals.

Further to the great success of this first session, and subsequent requests to keep raised thoughts in process, Maravilhosa organized the second part on the 2nd of February 2017. This second panel was a continuation of the topics, ideas, and challenges which were raised on the 10th of May 2016. Educational and inspiring thoughts have been debated and new initiatives were announced.

Among the audience, Maravilhosa had the pleasure to welcome parents, and young people interested to learn about the industry, students, Shipping professionals, and Shipping experts. The event succeeded in getting different generations in one room, and in support of the Cyprus Shipping industry.

High profile international and local Speakers greatly inspired the audience with real-life stories, current challenges for young professionals to join the Cyprus Shipping industry, recruitment strategy and development of Shipping professionals, and the role of Shipping Associations in education and engagement.

The Keynote Speech was delivered by Dr. Christos Atalianis, Senior Marine Surveyor, Department of Merchant Shipping, on behalf of Acting Director, Mr. Ioannis Efstratiou.

The introduction “The role of Culture and Leadership” was delivered by Muriel Matta, who was moderating the panel discussion:
