Shipping: an industry of Passion, Knowledge and Experience - Part Three

For the third consecutive year, Maravilhosa organized the third Panel Discussion “Shipping: an industry of Passion, Knowledge and Experience – Part 3”, under the auspices of the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Mr. Marios Demetriades.
This large-scale event took place at the New Passenger Terminal of DP World Limassol located at the Limassol Port, on Wednesday the 17th of January 2018.

The event was attended by Government dignitaries, the Transport Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, the Department of Merchant Shipping, Diplomats, representatives from Cyprus Shipping Chamber and Cyprus Union of Shipowners, representatives of Cyprus Shipping Organizations, shipping related Associations and Organizations, parents, and students.

The opening Keynote Address was delivered by the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Mr. Marios Demetriades, followed by a panel discussion with local and international high-profile Shipping personalities, and concluded with a Cocktail Reception.

The panel discussion was moderated by Muriel Matta, with the theme “Nurturing and Sustaining Cyprus Shipping” at the core of the panellists and speakers presentations:

“Nurturing and Sustaining Cyprus Shipping - ‘The Limassol Port Terminal Operator perspective’” – Mr. Charles Meaby, General Manager – DP World Limassol.
“‘Easy Come Easy Go’ - let us build on, not squander, the inheritance” – Mr. Mark O’Neil LLB, CEO – Columbia Marlow Holding Ltd Group.
“Cyprus Shipping in stagnation?” – Mr. Andreas Chrysostomou, Acting Secretary General – CLIA-Europe.
“Mega trends affecting sustainable Shipping”– Mr. Apostolos Belokas, Founder & Managing Editor – SAFETY4SEA.

Following the panel discussion, Mrs. Katia Christoforou, Head of Commercial at Marin Shipmanagement Ltd, delivered her speech, “A piece of advice”.
The conclusions were provided by the CEO of Tototheo Maritime Ltd, Mr. Socrates Theodossiou: “Digital Disruption & Transformation, are YOU ready?”.
