HOW TO MAKE NOT GIVING UP YOUR ONLY OPTION
Dedication, consistency, and patience, are some of the attributes you need, when pursuing a challenging goal. The path is not always straight forward, though.
Sometimes, you might get bored doing the same thing, every day, without seeing instant results.
In fact, your determination may be tested every now and then, depending on your mood, your schedule, a change in priorities, other challenges you are dealing with, and even the weather.
Fear of failure, boredom, a slow progress, and the temptation to get back to your habits, may derail your efforts.
Some, or all of these challenges can prevent people and organisations from growing and thriving. They might start a project with good intentions of seeing it through, only to see it lagging behind after some time.
How can you stay focused on reaching a goal, no matter what obstacles you face?
To start with, you should have a strong purpose that drives the goal itself. I mean by that, you need to want it bad enough.
And then, you should consider all the benefits, that you and your team (if it is a common goal) will enjoy when you don’t give up, in terms of growth and results.
Not giving up means staying utterly committed to the goal, the plan, the teamwork, and the journey.
Setting a goal and being determined to achieve it is a wonderful experience of self-discovery, unlearning, and relearning. It is up to you to identify what you could do differently in every aspect of your life, then go do that.
You can decide to work alone, or to be accompanied by a coach, or a support team of advisors, while you push your limits further, with discipline and consistency.
As for organisational goals, the process of committing to a shared project shall promote communication and collaboration within your team, boost performance, accountability, and trust. This workplace experience will enable people to be happy, creative and engaged, while embracing change and reaching high-performance.
Not giving up should be the goal in itself, which will unlock so much untapped potential in everyone.
You are more engaged when you are challenged.
You are happier when you push your limits.
You are healthier when you are disciplined.
And you become a role model for others, when you progressively shape your leadership skills.
